Moscow 3-5 March 2009 - Venue: Expo Centre Krasnya Presnya

Automechanika is one of the leading exhibitions in Russia in the automotive shere. In 2009 more than 100 companies took part in it and 11 countries participated.

The exhibition concentrated on Aftermarket / spare parts for the passenger car and CV sectors, plus related repair and garage services.

The UK represented by an SMMT pavillion partially sponsored by UKTI.

Eight UK companies were brought by SMMT, and these included the member companies of:

1. TruckProtect (anti-siphoning devices)
2. Roadlink International (commercial vehicle brake system components)
3. Nelson Stokes (Brake hose/cylinder components
4. Jewel Ultra (Body and trip protection products)
5. Hopkirks (sales and marketing company, representing world-class manufacturer, focused primarily on automotive accessories)

 The trade show was nowhere near the grand scale of the Frankfurt exhibition, but it will only grow in the future. This year was a little depressed owing to the global circumstances, but was still worthwhileand a general positive feedback was recieved thoughout the UK contingent.

Europart is the Russian branch of the German company Europart but they distribute not only German products and are open to co-operation.

Communications with Russian distributors revealed that they had not yet been badly affected by the crisis though sales had fallen. (Exist.ru still turnover 350million Euros annually!)

The UK group was well supported by a young Russian who is starting out as a manufacturers representative.
